All I can say is what an experience. We chose a random park that we had never heard of to enjoy this phenomenon and it turned out to be one of the best places we could've chosen. The Las Vegas Astronomical Society had set up camp there and reserved both group spots and then turned around and opened them up to anyone that wanted to join the party. There were geeks and telescopes of all sizes and technicality as far as the eye could see.
Although the trip was to check out the eclipse that only lasted about an hour or so and we had to fill the rest of our weekend. So we spent a day checking out the park, Cathedral Gorge State Park
http://parks.nv.gov/parks/cathedral-gorge/. We also checked out Delamar, NV
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delamar,_Nevada a booming Gold Mining town turned ghost. And lastly the historic site of Old Iron Town Utah which is very well preserved.

And we found the ground littered with these babies which led me to do a little research. These bottle caps came from the Salt Lake Brewing Co.
http://www.utahstories.com/2011/03/14/history-beer-utah/ which operated just off of 1000 E and between 400-500 South in SLC, UT. The brewery was the largest outside of Milwaukee and produced over 100,000 barrels of beer per year. To put that into perspective Wasatch/Squatters brews around 35,000. The owner of the brewery was none other that Jacob Moritz

The trees made a great pin hole camera for the eclipse (look at the roof of the picnic area)
There was so much we had to skip so we will definitely be going back, I hear Pioche throws a hell of a Labor Day celebration.
