Anyone familiar with Axle & Gear Co.? Empty

It's time for me to get lower gears installed in my FJ. I've been calling around to a bunch of companies in the valley, and have been quoted anywhere from $1,300-$2,200 for parts and labor. I contacted Axle & Gear Company in Salt Lake, and he quoted me $988 out the door for parts and labor with Nitro 4.56 gears, mini install kits and Mobil 1 full synthetic oil. It also comes with a 12 month warranty on the labor. Does anyone have any experience or feedback on this company? The pricing just seems too good to be true! Thanks

I'm not familiar enough. (Never re-geared anything)
Let us know how it goes.

Very familiar with Nitro Gears but not the company you speak of. That sounds like a great price!

If you use them, please provide feedback as I may have a few jobs they could do for me as well.

Axle & Gear Co = Advanced Four Wheel Drive Systems in SLC... A search for them should bring up plenty.

So I ended up going with these guys to change out my gears. Its been 3 weeks now, and so far so good! As posted above the company is better known as Advanced Four Wheel drive systems. Their specialty is doing 4 wheel drive conversions, mostly on vans and ambulances, but they also do all kinds of axle work.

When I dropped the FJ off, which the owner was nice enough to meet me there on a Saturday so I didn't have to take work off, he took me for a tour of the shop, and they had tons and tons of axles laying around, plus thay had 3 FJ40's they were working on too.

The owner Randy and his son(who owns a FJ40) both seem like great guys, and are very knowledgeable about the type of work they do!
