| Hey Everyone, I'm tired of the cb sitting in the closet and have made it my goal to get it in the FJ post-haste. So far this is what I know: 1) I'm going to go with the rear door hinge mount (Unless someone recommends something out of this world). 2) I keep hearing Firestik, so again going that route unless I get better advice. 3) Since I'm keeping the factory stereo, I've got to find the least inconvenient spot to mount this bad boy (I keep toying with the idea of a roof mount). So, here are the things I don't know: 1) How much cable will I need? 2) Since I'll be running the cable to the back and possibly doing a ceiling mount, how hard is it to take down the ceiling and side panels? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me | |

| I got the "Big Bill Combo" from Walcott. It came with everything you need to mount it, including an antenna and 18 feet of cable. That should be plenty of cable if you mount it to the head liner. Mine was a little short because I ran it down to the frame and then up to the center console. My CB is one of the small ones with all of the controls on the hand piece. It takes up very little room, but I sometimes I wonder if a full size unit wouldn't be better. I've heard, but don't know personally, that the head liner is very fragile and is easily damaged when removing it. | |

| Ironically I wanted the 75WX originally but got a full size model with Bluetooth for Xmas. I've read to wear gloves when handling the liner because it gets dirty super easy. | |

| I don't know much about installing cb units(I use a handheld connected to a magnet antenna), but when you are ready I do have a SWR meter you can borrow to dial it in.
*On a side note....if anyone else needs to tune their cb let me know and you can use my SWR meter anytime.

| John, I have mounted a CB in my FJ a couple of times. I finally got the Cobra all-in-one and would like to redo my wiring. Maybe we should have a wrench night??? Bob Cell: 623-680-7298 (Yeah, it's a Phoenix number--my employer is in the Desert.....) | |

| Either you or Tyler had it. I gave it to him but thought you borrowed from him. It was so long ago I can't remember. | |

| UPDATE:
Got it in, woohoo! Now I want to test that I'm receiving, are there particular channels that have more traffic? I'm up in PC/Heber if that helps.

| Googled it, 17 & 19 are the "preferred" trucker channels. Works and so does the radio, kids are hooked on the PA. | |
